Thinking back...

This course I found surprising. Although at the beginning of the course we were told it would be heavily based on technology i was still surprised how much we used it.

I think the assignment I liked the most was the black out peotry. I found that project to be more creative then others we did and a bit more of a challenge. It was more of a challeng because I didnt just want to blck out random stuff, I wanted it to be good and I think the mark I got reflected that I did good. I also liked it because it seemed like a more traditional way to creativly write, it didnt involve the internet at all.

I would say the project I liked the least was the twitter fiction. Im not one for socail media on the internet. I do use facebook to see what people are up to but rarely do I ever post anything, and twitter? Im not going to lie I hate twitter. I would have never made a twitter if it wernt for this class. I found it was an interesting idea to try to make a story on twitter but i found it difficult especailly with the word limit for each tweet. I found I couldnt make a good story with just tweets, my usual story ideas i couldnt make work. It was an interesting idea but for me, it didnt work out.

Reading on fridays I loved. It was relaxing and I got to read my books which I dont normally have time for at home. I started and finished three books by Dean Koontz and started another. Now writtin g about what I read I never really did. I didnt know how to express what I was reading. If I had more guidlines to follow I think I would have been more succesful with the writing portion. I guess what Im trying to say is that I had lots of freedom to write what I wanted too but because most classes you are told what to write and how to write it I felt like I didnt know what to write about what I read, and mabey Im a little lazy too...

I found the writters notebook to be verry usefull. I am usually a pencil type guy. Il write on paper first and then type it out. Its just easier for me that way. My writters book has lots of usefull ideas for me because of the daily creates we did. The writters book was definatly helpfull.

As I said before, Im not one for socail media internet kind of stuff. keeping up with a blog and twitter I found to be a pain because I do not like to post alot on the internet facebook is good enough for me. I just dont care about most online socail things or bloggs. I hate twitter I think its the most pointless internet website ever, but thats just the way I am. So my advice to future creative writters in this course, no matter how stupid you think blogging and twitter is, do it. I didnt keep up with my blog or twitter and it shows with my grade.

I learned that I like the more traditional way of writing and reading. I liked the pen and paper part of the course not so much the computer and tech part. The only advice I have to give is that I think the course should have a more traditonal creative writing touch. mabey a few lessons on how to write good peotry a bit more pen and paper assignments. other then that the course was pretty good, it was somthing differnt, which is good. I hope my teacher Ms. McLauchlan keeps finding new interesting projects for future classes. Thank you for the learning experience Ms.McLauchlan.
